::page three - my take::
First of all, I'm sure the lovely and open-minded members of Westboro Baptist Church would consider me some kind of Bible-doubting heretic with repressed homosexuality masquerading under the facade of a radical liberal feminist. To this I say simply: fuck you. You are all sick and twisted; twenty million times more than the "fags" that you hate so passionately. But that much should simply be obvious. I was raised in a Christian home, and have been taught ideals of love, acceptance, and forgiveness. I have struggled with my faith, and have come to the realization that my soul does not rest easily in the Christian mindset. For instance, I believe that the Bible, while preaching a good message, is just this: a piece of propaganda written in the Old World, for the Old World, and by the Old World. And just as easily as Westboro can spit passages and sound bites for their cause, easily can they be countered in a kind of Christian battle of words, I suppose. It's contradiction in terms. "There is a God. He is merciful. He loves all of you. But if you screw up, he's sending you into a pit of fire for the rest of eternity." Hate of any kind, fronting underneath a religious mask, is a dangerous thing indeed. God help me if I'm wrong, but religion is something that some people still take very seriously today. They look to it for moral guidance. What kind of example are you setting for people by preaching violence, disrespect, harassment, and degradation? Has our society swung so far in the direction of political correctness that we now find it necessary to swing back into a Great Moral Demise? My one great fear: This may be only the beginning. |
