The seizure of cannabis plants was universally condemned by Totnes' thriving community of pot smokers as an outrageous waste of taxpayers' money.
One Totnes pot head commented "If the Police didn't waste time and money harassing peace loving cannabis users then perhaps local yobs wouldn't get away with beating people up with baseball bats."
Caned in Totnes ran a caption competition for the above pic, giving away a packet of legal cannabis seeds for funniest entry. This was the winning caption:
