<< BACK    I have to say, The Silent Film Soundtrack is quickly becoming one of my favorite acts to catch live. Having seen two very solid sets in a row, it makes me wonder why I didn’t pick them up on my radar sooner. Well they are defiantly on it now. Equal parts clever timing, infectious energy and catch you off your guard hooks, songs like “Blue Nosed Mule” and my favorite “Lights Out (murder)” make you want to just participate. And, why yes, participation is encouraged. I will once more reiterate how much you should see this band live.

Speaking of bands to see live, you have to make it out to a Diableros show if you can. It may seem like a full compliment of people (and they were still missing one member), the five piece sounded gorgeously rich but not overwhelming. I remember thinking how melodically moving the songs were. I especially enjoyed the vocals which really explored the hills and valleys of emotion without sounding fake or schmaltzy. It’s always nice to see the scene swing to less abrasive music once in a while. They are loud, they are full, and they are satisfying. Thanks for the eventful Thursday night.
