Good news indeed for Stonehenge.
But there is a snag.
The new tunnel will be just 1.3 miles (2.1 km) long. That means, outside the tunnel section, huge cuttings will still have to be bulldozed through part of the Stonehenge World Heritage Site. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon it was raining and the sky was cloudy, but during the evening the sky cleared to give a wonderful show of stars - so many more than we can see in our light polluted Brighton sky. It was a crystal clear night ,shooting stars all night over the stones, everything frozen and glistening. The sun rose magnificently, the clouds overhead were grey, it snowed and a snow bow appeared.
I don't know how many were there 150 maybe, it was so good to be back home inside the circle again
an amazing solstice
and the english heritage mince pies were incredible - only 20p.
