HISTORY OF THE TROUBLES

MESSAGE TO THE OWNERS OF BRITAIN

[GREENLEAF magazine in November 1986 carried a paradise view of trees flowers and a river featuring a naked man and a naked woman. But the text was a commentary on the new Public Order Act with its sanctions directed against travellers campers and the free festival movement]

Somebody owns every piece of land in Great Britain and the police will want to know who you are if you come on it, especially if you are hairy or hairless and have a live-in vehicle. Not much is said elsewhere in this mag about so-called problems of criminal trespass. One's very existence can become a crime and this is not a subject for discussion in a polite society. But I wish to communicate with the dominant minority of this foully rude society and ask them if they think people can live happily and in harmony with each other and with nature ?

Is it a matter of more weapons more laws more restrictions more victims ? Or is this not the road to disaster - Yes some peasants might have a bad time of it but so could you. The landed gentry only do well when they relate to people as well as to land. When this is lost they lose the land. I have read the past. I think the true story of the future might ever so slightly resemble it. When some peaceful people camp on your land it might be your duty to tell the police to keep the peace by staying away.

[GREENLEAF has addressed the question of land more than once. Look for further text in the near future on the magazine site (via Home Page)]
